We currently have six different crime stories where you get to be the solver or the criminal. Each game has its own story behind its creation. For example, The Rich and the Criminal got its initial spark when one player would have preferred to be the villain rather than the hero. What stands out most from designing In the Beast’s Clutches is the expressions on fellow passengers’ faces when we discussed various torture methods we could use in the game during a train ride. In addition to playing, developing the games is actually the best part of this job.

We decided right from the start to create a strong story for our escape games. We wanted the puzzles to be a logical part of the story and for players to be able to guess not only the codes but also the culprits and motives. Since Heidi had previously worked as a game master for live-action role-playing games and Toni had taught rappelling, we were able to bring excitement to the games through both plot and action. Every player and actor makes us notice new details in the games, so we’re constantly developing them. The most beautiful thing we’ve heard from a player was the comment “It feels like stepping into the middle of a movie that you can influence yourself.” That’s exactly the feeling we want you to experience with our games.

Our stories The Kidnapped Artist, The Stolen Christmas , and The Stolen Bride are feel-good games where teammates get to collaborate and get to know each other along the way. If, on the other hand, you want to experience pressure and challenges, The Trapped by the Beast , The Snatched Boss, and The Rich and the Criminals offer a chance to dive into the darker side of the human mind. If we had to pick our own favorite among the games, it would be The Trapped by the Beast.
