"Heidi

Feel free to borrow these poems of mine.

Like a lantern on a frosty night

a thousand wonders you have shown,

and all those sharp and wolf-toothed trials

with you I’ve passed – not on my own.

Though the far ends of the world may call,

your heartbeat is my only home;

with not a penny, or with it all,

this feeling stays as firm as stone.

At last this summer day has come,

the sunlight’s glitter swims the bay,

and like a night-queen bloom at dawn

my heart has closed in you to stay.

My mates could tell you, plain and true,

I never could stand romance;

I guess Cupid was toying with his arrows

the day I gave my heart a chance.

Nothing serious, I told myself,

just cocktails with a slice of lime,

the single life keeps things fresh –

now I’m changing your surname to mine.

I never knew it’d turn out so,

who can tell how hearts will sway?

The needle of time is stitching

good karma for us, come what may.

My rosebud and my ruby,

will you take this road with me?

If your answer now is yes,

I’ll whisk our wedding cake by hand – you’ll see!

My bridegroom and my sapphire,

today I’ll take the road with you,

if only you will kiss me now

with all the wedding guests in view.
